The C2C4C Journey

I started photographing the Coast 2 Coast 4 Cancer journey four years ago. Each year, riders working for Bristol Meyers Squibb begin on the Oregon Coast, and relay all the way to the Atlantic Ocean and the Bristol Meyers Squibb headquarters in New Jersey. Riders have raised over $1 million for cancer research through the V Foundation this year to honor loved ones impacted by cancer. The North American ride took 27 days and wrapped up this October. There are also rides in Europe, Japan, and South America. I will be heading to Patagonia, Chile in November to photograph the Latin American ride.

The thing that has always impressed me most about this ride is that, for the most part, these are not experienced cyclists. There is a competitive process to get accepted to do the ride, and riders find out early spring if they were selected. Many of them don’t even have bicycles at that point. Training starts in April, and by September, they begin taking turns riding the 3,000 miles across the country.

Please consider making a donation to the V Foundation in support of these riders and the goal to put an end to cancer.
