The Potala Palace is the traditional winter home of the Dalai Lama of Tibet. I had the rare privilege of being able to visit Tibet in 2009, and was able to photograph the Potala. Construction of the Palace was completed in 1694, and since 1959, it has served as a museum. In 1994 it was added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
