Every year the Breckenridge Ski Area hosts a torchlight parade featuring people skiing down the mountain at night holding torches. However, only once in the 50+ year history of the ski area, did they have two simultaneous torchlight parades with one coming from the very top of Peak 8. This happened in 2005 to celebrate the opening of the Imperial Express chairlift. At 12,840 feet, it remains the highest ski chairlift on earth.
